A very Happy Thanksgiving to all. May you enjoy this wonderful Holiday with family, friends, loved ones and pets by your side.
As this joyous Holiday approaches, we at FFLI have much to be thankful for:
First and foremost, one of our precious kitties, Carissa, has been given the gift of sight. When we first rescued her, she was suffering from intropia, a condition in which the eyelids and eyelashes turn inward into the eyes causing abrasions to the cornea. Carissa had very limited sight. Last week, Carissa underwent surgery to have her eyelids pulled forward and mended surgically in order to make her eyelids anatomically correct. Carissa's vision in one eye has been completely restored and her prognosis is excellent. Although she appears swollen and bruised, she is now healing beautifully and is on her way to a happy and healthy life. Our goal is to raise $2000 for her treatment and care.
Those of you who know me know that when it comes to Animals, I'm all in. A few months ago I saw a little fellow named Jax on Fox & Friends. I saw Jax bouncing down the studio hall way with a couple of young ladies that operate an organization called, Forgotten Friends of Long Island New York.
What impressed me about Jax was how happy he was seemingly unaware of how serious his problems are. What impressed me about FFLI, is that they don't Euthanise Dogs and Cats like Jax, they take them off the street and do everything they can to help make them well. The fact is, they rescue many animals from local pounds and shelters that are scheduled to be Euthanized. With a network of foster care-takers, they give care and shelter to these animals until they can find them homes. This is an ambitious endeavor folks and one that I want to be a part of. I am hoping that many or any of my clients will join me in helping the fine ladies at FFLI care for and help as many of these Forgotten Friends as possible.
I can tell you for a fact that the help I was able send Jaxs' way came back to me 10 fold by days end. Even if it had not, it was worth it to me. I get e-mail updates on the progress Jax is making from his foster mom. She tells me that he still has challenges; however, I belive Jax will persevere and eventually recover with the care of the Folks at FFLI. Those ladies had to find ways to raise $5000 to make this happen. In this world, money well spent in my opinion. Yes, I know, they are up in New York and this is Texas, but I don't care. I am inviting any or all of my clients who love animals as I do, to help out.
From now on, when you stop by www.drhair.com, be on the look out for a forgotten friend like Jax who needs a hand but has no way to ask. I'll ask for them. And I'll thank you every time you do. If even a portion of my clients help out with only a small amount, I know it will make a difference that we can all be proud of.
